Agentic AI company Tensor has selected Dubai as the global stage to unveil the Tensor Robocar, the world’s first personally owned Level 4 autonomous vehicle. The landmark debut will take place at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025, marking the company’s first public showcase in the Middle East and a significant milestone in the evolution of personal mobility. Developed over a decade, the Robocar represents a fusion of proprietary engineering, advanced AI, and a ground-up autonomous design.
“When the world shifts, how will you move?” said Amy Luca, Chief Marketing Officer at Tensor. “We are excited to bring Tensor to Dubai, a city that embodies innovation and forward thinking. This isn’t a concept—it is the world’s first real personal Robocar. It’s time to Own Your Autonomy.”
Engineered for True Autonomy
Unlike conventional electric vehicles adapted with autonomous features, the Tensor Robocar was built natively as a robot on wheels. Its architecture is meticulously designed to serve AI perception, safety, and reliability. The vehicle integrates an extensive sensor suite of over 100 units, including 37 cameras, 5 lidars, and 11 radars, providing complete 360° visibility. Design elements like radar-transparent materials and unobstructed lidar sightlines underscore its safety-first philosophy. Furthermore, its advanced electrical and electronic system ensures full-stack redundancy across power, communications, and control for fail-operational performance.
Advanced AI and Self-Reliance
At the core of the Robocar is the Tensor Foundation Model, which enables the vehicle to learn from vast datasets of real and simulated environments. This allows it to navigate challenging conditions such as desert glare, dust, heavy rain, and fog. Its dual AI system mimics human cognition, with one system handling reflexive responses and a second, multimodal Visual Language Model, managing complex and rare edge cases. Designed for individual owners rather than fleets, the vehicle boasts features like intelligent sensor-cleaning, autonomous parking and charging, and continuous self-diagnosis, making it a self-sufficient AI agent.
A New Standard in Safety and Privacy
Purpose-built for SAE Level 4 autonomy, the Tensor Robocar is engineered to meet or exceed global safety standards, including FMVSS, UN/ECE, and GSO, while targeting top ratings from IIHS, Euro NCAP, and US NCAP. Safety is reinforced through comprehensive redundancy across all critical systems, from sensors and compute to power and thermal management. Privacy is also a central tenet of its design. All personal data, including location and preferences, is processed and stored locally on the vehicle. Access is end-to-end encrypted, and physical safeguards like camera covers and microphone off-switches protect owner privacy.
Strategic Partnerships Powering The Future
Tensor has built a world-class ecosystem of partners to bring the Robocar to life. The vehicle features an onboard supercomputer from Nvidia delivering 8,000 TOPS, 17-MP automotive cameras from Sony, and cloud infrastructure from Oracle. Manufacturing will be handled by VinFast, while insurance partner Marsh is developing the world’s first insurance policy for a personal robocar. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.
