The University of Kirkuk has launched its Global Entrepreneurship Week, a significant initiative aimed at fostering a culture of innovation and supporting the development of student-led ventures. The event, held in collaboration with Al-Kitab University, Al-Qalam University, and Baba Gurgur University, features a series of seminars, exhibitions, and workshops designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs turn their concepts into sustainable businesses that contribute to the local economy.
Fostering a Culture of Innovation
Dr. Imran Jamal, President of the University of Kirkuk, highlighted the event’s importance in promoting student-led innovation across technological, industrial, commercial, and artistic sectors. He emphasized that the initiative serves as a crucial platform for attracting and nurturing local talent and innovative ideas, ultimately aiming to advance the region’s scientific and economic landscape.
A Collaborative University Effort
The launch event was marked by a ceremony attended by the presidents of the participating private universities, who all affirmed their strong support for entrepreneurship and innovation. They outlined their commitment to developing plans and programs that will ensure the success of the entrepreneurship initiative, preparing students with the technical expertise and scientific knowledge required to excel in the modern workforce.
From Concept to Commercialization
Global Entrepreneurship Week provides students with practical resources and guidance to move their ideas forward. The agenda includes research lectures focused on securing mentorship and funding, as well as a joint exhibition showcasing projects in electronics, pharmaceuticals, advertising, and industrial design.
The event also features mentorship sessions and a showcase of digital applications and project concepts. The core objective is to provide a structured pathway for students, offering them access to laboratories and tech incubators to transform their ideas from a blueprint into a market-ready reality, thereby creating new job opportunities and driving sustainable development.
