Yango AI Routing Technology Reclaims 5 Million Hours for Urban Commuters

3 Min Read

Yango Group, the UAE-based global technology company digitalising urban services, has announced a significant milestone, revealing that its advanced AI-powered routing technologies saved commuters more than 5 million hours in 2025. The research, which analyzed millions of Yango Ride trips across over 20 cities, highlights the tangible quality-of-life improvements that intelligent routing can deliver at scale.

AI as Critical Urban Infrastructure

The findings position AI-driven mobility as a form of critical infrastructure for modern cities. By leveraging a sophisticated combination of machine learning models, real-time traffic data, and historical analysis, Yango’s system calculates the most efficient route in milliseconds, demonstrating a powerful solution to urban congestion.

“Five million hours saved isn’t a tech metric — it’s proof that AI can solve real urban problems at scale,” said Adeniyi Adebayo, Chief Business Officer of Yango Group. “We’re demonstrating that the next generation of city infrastructure won’t be built with concrete and steel alone, but with data, algorithms, and intelligence embedded into everyday services.”

Quantifying the Impact in the UAE and Beyond

The research, which compared AI-optimized routes against static shortest-path navigation, revealed measurable time savings within the UAE’s major urban hubs. In Dubai, riders reclaimed a total of 17,373 hours annually, with an average time saving of 2.24% per trip. Similarly, users in Abu Dhabi saved a collective 17,384 hours over the year, equating to an average of 1.8% per trip.

Beyond the UAE, the technology generated significant time savings across diverse global cities. Lima, Peru, saw the largest absolute saving, with users reclaiming over 1.1 million hours annually. Commuters in Guatemala City experienced the highest efficiency gains at 6.99% per trip, while residents in Kinshasa saved an average of 6.48% per journey.

The Technology Behind the Time Savings

Yango’s routing system processes a multitude of data streams simultaneously, including road characteristics, traffic light patterns, turn complexity, and predictive congestion models. The platform features a self-learning architecture that continuously refines its accuracy by comparing predicted travel times with actual outcomes, creating an adaptive feedback loop tailored to each city’s unique mobility patterns.

Beyond Time Savings to Urban Sustainability

The benefits of intelligent routing extend beyond convenience. By minimizing idle time in traffic and optimizing vehicle distribution, Yango’s AI technology contributes to broader urban sustainability goals. This includes improving fuel efficiency, lowering vehicle emissions, and decreasing localized congestion—all core pillars in the development of smart, future-ready cities.
