The Aden Businessmen Club has launched the Entrepreneurship Summit 2025, a three-day event designed to accelerate the growth of Aden’s entrepreneurial landscape. Held at the Aden Mall, the summit aims to empower young founders and project owners by uniting experts, consultants, innovators, and financing bodies under one roof.
The event, themed “Together We Build Innovation in the Innovators’ Corner,” is structured around four key tracks: a business consulting camp, a financing services exhibition, an innovators’ corner, and awareness-building sessions. The summit has garnered significant support, with official sponsorship from Shomoil Bank and Al-Qutibi Islamic Bank, and participation from the Bank of East Yemen, Aden First Islamic Bank, and Yemen Bahrain Comprehensive Bank.
A Platform For Collaboration and Growth
The summit serves as a critical interactive platform for knowledge sharing and networking among entrepreneurs, investors, and government stakeholders. The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Ali Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Ali Ahmed Jarhoum, Chairman of the General Investment Authority; and representatives from the private and public sectors.
In his remarks, Ali Atef highlighted the summit’s importance, stating, “This summit serves as an interactive platform that brings together various parties supporting entrepreneurship and highlights Aden’s growing role in supporting innovation and entrepreneurial projects.”
Ali Ahmed Jarhoum echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the event’s role in building connections. “This summit represents an interactive space for exchanging experiences and ideas, and for building a network of relationships between youth, entrepreneurs, and investors,” he said. Jarhoum also stressed the necessity of private sector engagement in driving development.
Tackling The Fear of Failure
Hisham Baawdah, representing the Aden Businessmen Club, described the summit as an “exceptional event” that coincides with Global Entrepreneurship Week. He pointed to a critical challenge facing the global ecosystem that the summit aims to address locally.
“In February 2025, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor published a report stating that 49% of entrepreneurs are afraid to start their own companies for fear of failure,” Baawdah noted. “This draws our attention to the importance of the three sectors in our country—the government, the private sector, and civil society organizations—joining forces to support the entrepreneurial environment.”
