Sharjah Business Women Council to Sponsor 8 Startups at Expand North Star 2025

The Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) has opened applications for women-led startups to receive full sponsorship to participate in Expand North Star 2025 in Dubai, the world’s largest gathering for startups and investors. The initiative aims to empower local talent by providing a launchpad to the global stage.


Opportunity Overview

The SBWC will select eight UAE-based, women-led startups to showcase their businesses at the international event, which takes place from October 12-15 at Dubai Harbour. The mission is to provide these founders with direct access to a vast network of global investors and business leaders. Selected companies will also be automatically qualified to participate in the Supernova Challenge, the world’s largest startup pitch competition.

“Through empowering our members to participate in Expand North Star, we are not just supporting their business growth; we are enhancing their presence and paving the way for them to become the next generation of leaders shaping innovation across the region,” said Her Excellency Mariam bin Al Shaikh, Director of SBWC.


What Participants Will Receive

The sponsorship package provides a unique opportunity for global exposure and funding. Each of the eight selected startups will receive:

  • A premium exhibition booth at Expand North Star 2025, providing visibility to thousands of visitors from over 100 countries.
  • Automatic qualification for the Supernova Challenge, with the chance to compete for a prize pool of $214,000 in equity-free cash grants, including a grand prize of $100,000.
  • The opportunity to compete for special category awards, including the Sustainability Leaders award ($10,000) and the Fintech & Blockchain Disruptor Award ($10,000).

Who Should Apply?

To be eligible for this exclusive opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The founder or co-founder must be a woman.
  • The startup must be based in the UAE and be no more than five years old.
  • The applicant must be a member of the Sharjah Business Women Council (membership can be obtained at the time of registration).
