A subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) has participated in a $1.6 billion investment into global hyperscale data center provider Vantage Data Centers. The investment, made alongside Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC, is aimed at accelerating Vantage’s expansion across fast-growing markets in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Fueling The Digital Infrastructure Boom
This major investment highlights the surging global demand for digital infrastructure, a trend largely driven by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence and the continued growth of cloud computing. As AI models and cloud services become more complex, the need for powerful, scalable data center capacity has increased exponentially, creating significant opportunities for large-scale investors like ADIA.
Strategic Acquisition in Malaysia
A primary use of the new funding will be to support Vantage’s acquisition of Yondr Group’s 300MW+ hyperscale data center campus in Johor, Malaysia. This strategic move will significantly expand Vantage’s regional footprint, bringing its total APAC capacity to over 1GW. The acquisition and investment are expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
A Bet on AI and Cloud Growth
The investment underscores ADIA’s strategy of backing critical infrastructure that supports long-term technological shifts. Khadem AlRemeithi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Department at ADIA, commented, “This new commitment supports the growth of Vantage’s APAC platform at a time when advances in AI and cloud computing are driving regional demand for data center capacity.”
