Egypt’s Valu And MobileMasr Launch First P2P BNPL Service For Used Smartphones

3 Min Read

MENA fintech powerhouse Valu has partnered with MobileMasr, Egypt’s first tech-driven platform for second-hand electronics, to introduce a pioneering peer-to-peer (P2P) Buy-Now, Pay-Later (BNPL) service for used smartphones. The collaboration aims to create a safer, more transparent, and accessible second-hand mobile market by combining flexible payment solutions with robust device verification technology.

A Secure And Seamless Transaction Journey

The new service provides a fully digital and secure process for individuals to buy and sell pre-owned smartphones. When a seller lists a device on MobileMasr, they use the platform’s patented micro-diagnostic tool to verify its condition. Once a buyer is found, they can initiate a secure checkout through Valu’s platform. The system incorporates multiple safeguards, including identity cross-checks, GPS validation, secure QR code payments, and auto-generated e-contracts to protect both parties.

Empowering Buyers And Sellers With Flexible Financing

The partnership directly addresses affordability and cash flow for consumers. Buyers can access Valu’s flexible BNPL plans for up to 60 months, with a promotional launch offer of 0% interest, fees, and down payment for up to 12 months. This allows for instant approval and makes purchasing pre-owned devices more manageable. Sellers, in turn, benefit from a streamlined process and receive their payouts within four working days, removing the uncertainty often associated with P2P sales.

Driving Sustainability And The P2P Economy

Beyond its financial benefits, the initiative carries significant environmental and market impact. By making it easier and safer to trade used devices, the service extends smartphone lifecycles and helps curb electronic waste. For Valu, this move marks a strategic expansion from traditional retail into the burgeoning peer-to-peer economy. Walid Hassouna, CEO of Valu, described the launch as a “true market disruptor,” while Wael El Ashry, Founder and CEO of MobileMasr, emphasized its role in enhancing trust and security in the second-hand market.
