The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a cooperation agreement with the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation (SIEF) to strengthen economic and trade partnerships between the business communities of the UAE and China. The signing, which took place in Beijing during the Chamber’s participation in Investopia Global, aims to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a vital global economic hub.
A Framework For Strategic Cooperation
The agreement establishes a formal structure for enhancing collaboration between the two entities. Key areas of focus include the exchange of economic, trade, and investment expertise, as well as sharing insights into the laws and policies governing these sectors. The partnership will also facilitate the creation of new investment opportunities for the private sector, the organization of joint events, and the exchange of trade and economic delegations. This framework is designed to open broader opportunities for mutual growth and provide direct support for business ambitions in both markets.
Building On Strong Bilateral Trade
This partnership builds on a rapidly expanding economic relationship between the UAE and China. In the last year, bilateral non-oil trade grew by 3% to reach $89.2 billion. This growth is mirrored at the institutional level, with the Abu Dhabi Chamber reporting a 69.4% increase in its Chinese members in 2024. The UAE serves as a major gateway for Chinese products into the MENA and African markets, and there is significant potential for growth in UAE exports to China across diverse sectors, including precious metals, aluminum, and processed foods.
Fostering Future-Focused Industries
A key objective of the agreement is to support economic diversification and drive cooperation in future-focused industries. Both parties have identified semiconductors, energy, biotechnology, life sciences, and autonomous vehicles as strategic areas for collaboration.
His Excellency Ali Mohammed Al Marzooqi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, stated, “This agreement marks a milestone in the strategic cooperation between Abu Dhabi and China. It enhances communication channels and facilitates the exchange of economic expertise and knowledge, driving innovative investment opportunities and boosting the competitiveness of businesses on both sides.”
Mr. Tony Dong, Chief Representative in China of SIEF, added, “This partnership establishes an exclusive gateway for SIEF’s global members to connect with Abu Dhabi’s business community. Together we will pursue practical cooperation in bilateral match-making, landing services, executive training and more, turning Abu Dhabi’s and China’s complementary strengths into shared growth.”
