The inaugural Omani-Saudi Franchise Exhibition, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, has concluded after facilitating the signing of 17 new franchise agreements. The landmark three-day event brought together over 100 brands from Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and India, creating a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs and investors to foster cross-border partnerships.
A Platform for Cross-Border Growth
Organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in partnership with the Federation of Saudi Chambers, the exhibition was designed to highlight the growing role of franchising in strengthening Gulf economic integration. Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI, described the event as a “strategic opportunity to open new markets, attract quality investments and strengthen sustainable partnerships that mirror the depth of Gulf economic integration.” The platform enabled direct engagement between brand owners and potential franchisees, driving new business expansion across the region.
Facilitating Access to Finance
A significant outcome of the event was a new initiative to support aspiring entrepreneurs. The OCCI signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Development Bank to launch a dedicated financing program for individuals and SMEs seeking to pursue franchise opportunities. This program, managed through OCCI’s Commercial Excellence Centre, will provide crucial financial backing to help Omani entrepreneurs invest in established brands.
Strengthening Bilateral Economic Ties
The exhibition, held under the patronage of H.E. Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, received strong backing from Omani government bodies, including the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development. The event underscores a focused effort by Oman and Saudi Arabia to deepen their economic relationship, creating new channels for investment and supporting the growth of the private sector in both nations.
