The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has announced the launch of the “Emirati Tax Agent” program in partnership with the New Economy Academy. This strategic initiative is designed to empower national talent by training and certifying a new generation of 500 Emirati tax agents over the next three years, significantly strengthening the country’s financial services ecosystem.

A Strategic National Initiative

The program is a key component of the “UAE, the world’s capital for entrepreneurs” national campaign, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Overseen by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in collaboration with the UAE Government Media Office and the Emirates Council for Entrepreneurship, the initiative aims to cement the UAE’s position as a premier global destination for business and entrepreneurship.

Specialized Training Diplomas

The program will offer two intensive, specialized diplomas to equip participants with comprehensive tax knowledge. The six-day “Diploma in Value Added Tax” will cover the legal framework, registration procedures, tax return preparation, and accounting compliance. The more extensive 11-day “Diploma in Corporate Tax” will delve into the fundamentals of the UAE’s corporate tax system, registration, calculating taxable income, and practical training with real-world case studies.

Fostering Local Talent And Global Confidence

During the announcement, Khalid Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, emphasized that the program is a valuable addition to the UAE’s tax system. He stated that it will enhance global investor confidence in the UAE’s business environment by ensuring a supply of highly qualified local professionals. The initiative focuses on providing citizens with the in-depth knowledge and practical skills required to offer world-class tax consultancy services that are in step with global financial and economic shifts.

Broader Entrepreneurial Support

Laila Faridoon, CEO of the New Economy Academy, highlighted that this program is part of a larger ambition to train 10,000 Emirati citizens in entrepreneurship over five years. A new partnership with the DIFC’s “Ignite” platform will grant program members complimentary access, connecting them with global entrepreneurship experts and providing them with office spaces for meetings and events. This integrated approach aims to create a supportive and stimulating environment for innovation and business growth.
