Google Launches AI-Powered Search Mode in Arabic Across MENA

3 Min Read

Google has significantly enhanced its search capabilities for the MENA region by launching its advanced AI Mode in Arabic. This update is part of a broader global rollout that introduces the feature in 36 new languages across more than 200 countries and territories, making generative AI more accessible to millions of users.

Enhanced Search Capabilities with Gemini

AI Mode represents Google’s most powerful search experience to date, designed to understand complex user intent and deliver comprehensive, AI-generated overviews. Powered by the advanced reasoning and multimodal capabilities of Gemini 2.5 Pro, the tool can break down multifaceted questions into subtopics and issue multiple queries simultaneously, diving deeper into web content to provide highly relevant answers.

Multimodal and Conversational Queries

The new feature transforms the search process into a more intuitive and conversational experience. Users can now ask long-form, complex questions and receive detailed responses. For example, a user could ask, “I’m looking to understand different coffee brewing methods. Make a table comparing the differences in taste, ease of use and equipment needed,” and then ask a follow-up question like, “what’s the best grind size for each method.” In addition to typing, users can interact with AI Mode using voice commands or by uploading a photo or image. The feature is accessible as a dedicated tab on the Search results page and within the Google app for both Android and iOS.

MENA Relevance and Regional Adoption

While AI Mode in English first launched in the Middle East & North Africa last August, the introduction of Arabic is a landmark update for the region. It directly caters to the linguistic needs of millions, allowing founders, professionals, and consumers to leverage powerful AI tools in their native language. Global insights show that early adopters of AI Mode tend to ask questions two to three times longer than traditional queries, indicating a shift towards more complex and nuanced information discovery, a trend now set to accelerate across the Arabic-speaking world.
