The UAE Ministry of Investment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft to enhance the nation’s artificial intelligence capabilities, particularly within the investment sector. The strategic partnership, announced on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2025, aims to leverage AI technologies for advanced investment analytics and financial forecasting, reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to become a global AI leader by 2031.
Driving A Data-Driven Investment Ecosystem
A core component of the collaboration is the joint exploration of industry-specific AI use cases. The partnership will focus on implementing AI solutions in crucial areas such as investment analytics, financial forecasting, and retail optimisation. This initiative is designed to equip the ministry with cutting-edge tools to make more informed, data-driven decisions, ultimately strengthening the UAE’s investment landscape. “By integrating AI across the investment ecosystem and strengthening national capabilities, our collaboration with Microsoft represents a significant step in realising this ambition and accelerating progress towards a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy,” said Mohammad Alhawi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Investment.
Upskilling For An AI-Powered Future
The MoU places a strong emphasis on talent development through Microsoft’s AI National Skilling Initiative. This comprehensive program, designed to train 100,000 employees across various government entities, will be leveraged to upskill the Ministry of Investment’s workforce. Amr Kamel, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, noted, “Through this agreement, we aim to combine Microsoft’s expertise in AI with the Ministry’s strategic vision to equip internal teams with the skills and tools needed to make data-driven decisions, unlock new opportunities, and drive innovation across the UAE’s economy.”
Establishing Best Practices In Data Governance
To ensure a robust foundation for these AI initiatives, both parties will work together to promote best practices in data governance and management. The collaboration will include workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions focused on the effective use of Microsoft’s Azure Data Catalog and Azure Purview. Supported by Microsoft’s local field experts, these efforts are aimed at establishing the highest standards of implementation for data management within the ministry.
