Oman Airports Unveils World-First Wi-Fi 7 Deployment With Huawei At GITEX GLOBAL

3 Min Read

At GITEX GLOBAL 2025 in Dubai, Oman Airports and global tech leader Huawei jointly unveiled an intelligent campus showcase, positioning Oman as a leader in airport innovation. The collaboration makes its airports the first in the world to adopt the next-generation Wi-Fi 7 standard, setting a new global benchmark for smart airport infrastructure and passenger experience. The announcement was made during Huawei’s “Building AI Campuses Together to Achieve All Intelligence” forum.

H2 A New Benchmark in Connectivity

The groundbreaking project involves the deployment of over 4,700 Wi-Fi 7 access points (APs) and dynamic-zoom smart antennas, covering an expansive area of more than one million square meters. This extensive network ensures that passengers enjoy seamless, high-speed Wi-Fi 7 connectivity throughout the airport, eliminating lag even for hundreds of concurrent users in high-density areas like check-in counters and boarding gates. Basim Al Lawati, Vice President of ICT Infrastructure & Security at Oman Airports, highlighted how these new information and communication technologies (ICTs) reinforce the airports’ leadership in innovation.

H2 Driving Operational Efficiency

Beyond enhancing the passenger experience, the intelligent campus solution significantly boosts operational effectiveness. By leveraging Huawei’s iMaster NCE platform, Oman Airports has achieved real-time visualization, optimization, and troubleshooting of its network status. This has led to a remarkable 90% improvement in operations and maintenance (O&M) efficiency. Furthermore, the implementation of Huawei’s Integrated Campus Security Solution provides round-the-clock protection, while its SuperCoding technology significantly reduces the storage space required for video surveillance footage.

H2 A Strategic Partnership for the AI Era

The collaboration is a cornerstone of Huawei’s broader vision to redefine modern campuses with cutting-edge ICTs. During the forum, Huawei executives detailed their strategy to build AI campuses that feature all-scenario connectivity and deliver “space as a service.” The partnership with Oman Airports serves as a powerful showcase of this vision in action, demonstrating how advanced technologies can accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation of critical infrastructure hubs. This project not only amplifies Oman Airports’ success but also paves the way for a new chapter in the intelligent evolution of industries across the region.
