3 Min Read

Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) has announced the five winning projects from the second phase of its Innovative Incubator for Social Entrepreneurship program. The initiative, executed in Luxor in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is designed to leverage entrepreneurship to combat female genital mutilation (FGM).

The program is a key component of the National Committee for the Eradication of FGM’s efforts and reflects the NCW’s commitment to fostering youth-led social innovation as a powerful tool against harmful practices affecting women and girls.

Fostering Social Innovation In Luxor

The incubator program aims to merge community awareness concepts about FGM elimination with innovative, viable entrepreneurial models. By doing so, it empowers young leaders to play an active role in achieving sustainable local development and contributing to the goals outlined in Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The initiative provides a platform for aspiring social entrepreneurs to develop and prototype ideas that can create lasting change within their communities.

The Winning Ventures

Five projects were selected to receive grants to finance the development of their initial prototypes. The winning ventures are:

  • Al-Nada – Feed and Benefit
  • Rayhan
  • Al-Karam Clean
  • Linus
  • Arz Al-Aman
These grants will provide the critical early-stage funding needed to transform their innovative ideas into tangible solutions.

A Strategic Push For Sustainable Development

This program aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to empower its youth and encourage social innovation. By supporting ventures that address deeply rooted societal challenges, the NCW and its partners are fostering a new generation of entrepreneurs dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable future.
