Dubai National School (DNS) Al Barsha has successfully hosted the DNS Marathon for Entrepreneurship, a significant event showcasing the innovative potential of the UAE’s youth. The marathon brought together 86 student teams from 42 schools across the emirates, with over 240 participants presenting creative projects designed for the modern business world.
A Nationwide Platform for Young Innovators
The event, which has grown into a major platform since its inception three years ago, was organized in partnership with the Bakery Arts Academy, TKS Foundation, and Learn with Leaders. These collaborations provided valuable support, elevating the educational experience and fostering a competitive spirit among the student entrepreneurs.
The marathon received strong backing from the school’s management, including General Manager Osama Ajoul, School Principal Suad Abu Harb, and Head of the Business Department Raghad Khalifa, who all emphasized the importance of integrating entrepreneurship as a core future skill within the school environment.
Celebrating Winning Student Ventures
At the conclusion of the marathon, several teams were recognized for their outstanding projects. Team Shabab N Co from Dubai National School Al Barsha secured first place, winning a cash prize of AED 3,000. Team Hayat, also from DNS, took second place with an AED 2,000 prize, while Team Zero from Emirates Private School came in third, receiving AED 1,000.
Learn with Leaders presented two special awards: Team Styli from The Philippine School was named the Most Popular Team, and Team SATO from Al Salam Private School was recognized for the Most Innovative Booth. Additionally, Instax Fujifilm awarded a special prize of an instant camera to the Royal Grammar School for their project’s excellence.
Aligning with Dubai’s Economic Vision D33
Suad Abu Harb, the school’s principal, highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which focuses on developing students’ creativity and entrepreneurial skills to prepare them for the future.
“This initiative is in harmony with Dubai’s economic vision, which emphasizes nurturing creativity and leadership skills in students and enhancing their future readiness,” stated Abu Harb. She affirmed that the school will continue to support student projects beyond the marathon, helping them transform their ideas into viable business models.
Raghad Khalifa, Head of the Business Department, added that the initiative has reached an advanced stage of maturity. “The initiative, which started three years ago, has become a platform that attracts schools from all over the country after reaching an advanced stage of cognitive and practical maturity,” she noted.
