In a significant move to foster sustainable innovation, Orange Jordan has announced its sponsorship of the GreenTech Makerthon 2025 program. The initiative is designed to empower young talent in the Kingdom to develop practical, technology-driven solutions that tackle pressing environmental and climate challenges.

Fostering Sustainable Innovation

The GreenTech Makerthon brought together more than 60 young participants from across Jordan to innovate in key environmental sectors. The program focused on leveraging cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and circular economy principles to address challenges in waste management, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and climate adaptation.

This initiative aligns directly with Jordan’s National Green Growth Strategy and supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, specifically targeting affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), sustainable cities (SDG 11), responsible consumption (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13).

A Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration

The event was organized by Beyond Group Consulting and GreenTech, highlighting a robust partnership model essential for ecosystem growth. Key partners included the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), with coordination from Jordan’s Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.

Orange Jordan expressed its pride in sponsoring the event, emphasizing its belief in innovation as a cornerstone for sustainable development and the potential of the younger generation to drive meaningful change through technology.

From Idea to Prototype

Participants underwent a comprehensive journey that included intensive training, mentorship, and prototype development. The program was structured to help transform nascent ideas into tangible solutions with measurable environmental and social impact.

This journey culminated in a final Innovation Bootcamp, where the top 10 teams had the opportunity to showcase their innovative prototypes to a distinguished panel of experts, potential investors, and representatives from various public and private organizations.
