The UAE is set to deepen its economic and technological ties with Russia, with the upcoming UAE-Russia Business Forum in Dubai on December 10 poised to launch a new joint startup accelerator program and explore the creation of a mutual investment platform. The forum is being organized by the Russia-UAE Business Council with support from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The event, held as part of the 12th Intergovernmental Russia-UAE Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation, will bring together top-tier companies, investment funds, tech startups, and logistics operators from both nations to forge strategic partnerships.

Fostering Bilateral Economic Growth

The forum aims to build on the significant growth in trade and joint projects between the two countries across sectors like manufacturing, logistics, digital technologies, and investment. The plenary session, titled Architecture of Long-Term Growth: New Opportunities for Both Countries, will feature prominent leaders discussing the future of bilateral cooperation.

Key participants include UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov, and CEO of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office Badr Al-Olama.

Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov commented on the strengthening relationship, stating, “In recent years, the UAE has become one of Russia’s key economic partners in the Middle East. Through the work of the Russia-UAE Business Council, we see enormous potential for developing mutual investments and launching joint projects.”

Spotlight on Tech and Innovation

A central highlight of the forum will be the panel discussion, Russia–UAE Innovation Track: A New Era of Technological Partnership. This session will officially launch the first joint accelerator program designed to create a comprehensive growth ecosystem for Russian tech companies and startups establishing a presence in the UAE.
The panel will feature key figures from the tech industry, including Andrey Shket, deputy chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation; Dmitry Markov, CEO of VisionLabs; and Paul Dawalibi, CEO of Innovation City.

Building a Co-Investment Bridge

Investment cooperation will be another key focus, with a dedicated session titled Strategic Co-Investment Dialogue. This segment will gather strategic investors and specialized funds to discuss new tools and mechanisms for creating a dedicated Russia-UAE investment platform, aiming to streamline and support joint projects.
The discussion will also serve to present new projects and support mechanisms to foster a more integrated investment environment between the two nations.
