3 Min Read

A new UAE-based feeder fund, spearheaded by the Global Alliance, has announced a landmark commitment of Rs 1,000 crore (approximately $120 million) to be invested in startups across the Indian state of Kerala over the next three years. The initiative marks a significant step in

strengthening the investment corridor between the Gulf and India’s rapidly expanding innovation landscape.
The fund is designed to channel capital from the global Non-Resident Indian (NRI) community and international investors into high-potential, early- and growth-stage companies emerging from Kerala. Its primary goal is to provide these startups with the necessary resources to scale operations, penetrate global markets, and secure follow-on funding.

A Strategic Bridge for Cross-Border Investment

The initiative functions as a structured feeder fund, creating a formal vehicle for the global diaspora to participate in the growth of Kerala’s startup ecosystem. By connecting local ventures with international capital and venture capital networks, the fund aims to build a sustainable bridge that fosters long-term collaboration and technological exchange between the two regions.

This new fund complements the existing Funds-of-Funds program run by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), amplifying the state’s efforts to become a leading hub for technology and innovation.

Announcement at Huddle Global

The major funding announcement was made by Anoop Ambika, CEO of the Kerala Startup Mission, during the closing ceremony of Huddle Global, India’s largest beachside startup festival. The three-day event, held in Kovalam, brought together over 3,000 startups, 200 high-net-worth individuals, and more than 150 speakers, showcasing the vibrancy of the local ecosystem.

In addition to the fund, the event also saw the launch of KSUM’s ‘LeapX AVGC-XR Accelerator Programme.’ This specialized three-month program is aimed at supporting startups in the animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, and extended reality (AVGC-XR) sectors. Selected startups will gain access to mentorship, industry connections, and funding support, with applications now open to ventures across India.
