Amman recently hosted the inaugural demo day for the “Jordan x 2080” accelerator program, a collaborative initiative between Jordan’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the US-based venture capital firm 2080 Ventures. The event brought together a diverse group of investors, innovators, and key partners from local and international ecosystems to witness the new generation of high-growth Jordanian startups.
The demo day served as a critical platform for the graduating companies to explore investment opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and map out their regional expansion plans.
A New Generation of Jordanian Innovators
The first cohort of the program featured 15 promising Jordanian startups operating across a range of pivotal sectors. These included FinTech, digital services, healthcare and wellness, AgriTech and sustainability, fashion and lifestyle, as well as e-commerce and digital platforms.
During the event, each company presented its business model, highlighted key market traction and success metrics, and outlined its vision for future growth and expansion to the assembled audience of potential investors and corporate partners.
Strategic Government and VC Partnership
The year-long accelerator is a key component of the Ministry’s Youth, Technology, and Jobs Project, designed to provide comprehensive support for Jordanian entrepreneurs.
“We celebrate today the achievements of 15 Jordanian startups that participated in a quality acceleration journey,” said Samira Al-Zoubi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. “This program enables professional intermediaries like incubators and accelerators to support digital entrepreneurs and Jordanian companies as they expand into the GCC, EU, and US markets.”
The program offered integrated support focused on developing business models, enhancing market and investment readiness, and connecting startups with a network of investors and private sector partners. A key feature was the specialized mentorship and access to the US market facilitated by the expertise of 2080 Ventures.
Fostering Cross-Border Growth
The event also included a panel discussion titled “Beyond Borders: Growth Opportunities for Jordanian Startups.” The session addressed critical topics for local founders, including strategies for cross-border expansion, securing funding, and building strategic partnerships to scale beyond the domestic market.
A dedicated startup exhibition provided a valuable networking forum, allowing founders to connect directly with investors, established corporations, and other stakeholders within the innovation ecosystem.
