Omani fintech firm Thawani Pay has announced a strategic partnership with Network International, a leading enabler of digital commerce across the Middle East and Africa, to enhance digital payment services and launch new credit card capabilities within the Sultanate. This move follows Thawani Pay’s recent milestone of securing a Visa license, paving the way for the company to issue credit cards and develop innovative payment solutions for the local market.
Powering an App-First Card Experience
Under the agreement, Network International will provide its robust credit card processing services, offering a scalable and secure infrastructure to support Thawani Pay’s ambitious card development plans. The collaboration is designed to combine Thawani’s deep local market knowledge with Network’s extensive processing expertise.

The timing aligns with significant growth in Oman’s digital payments sector. In 2024, card and point-of-sale transaction volumes have already reached 432.9 million, with a total value of OMR 6.88 billion, indicating strong consumer appetite for cashless solutions.
