Cairo University has announced that registration is now open for its second annual Entrepreneurship Summit, scheduled to take place on February 10th at its main campus. The event, held under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aims to bolster Egypt’s national strategy for innovation and entrepreneurial growth.
A National Push for Innovation
The summit aligns with the acceptance of the “Entrepreneurial University” alliance into the competitive presidential initiative, “Alliance and Development.” This move underscores a national directive to foster innovation and leverage universities as key drivers for sustainable economic development, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
Bridging Academia and Industry
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, President of Cairo University, emphasized the institution’s commitment to placing innovation at the forefront of its national priorities. He highlighted that the summit serves as a strategic platform to connect scientific research with economic realities and empower young talent to transform their ideas into impactful ventures.
“Cairo University believes that entrepreneurship has become one of the most important paths for development in the New Republic,” said Dr. Abdel Sadek. “Through this summit, we seek to create a stimulating environment for innovation within the university and support our students and graduates to become pioneers in the digital economy and modern technology, in line with Egypt’s vision for a knowledge-based future.”
Connecting Startups with Investors
This year’s summit aims to create a comprehensive experience that unites key ecosystem players. Dr. Ghada Abdel Bary, Advisor to the University President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, noted that the event will bring together policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, and startups to foster growth and build effective partnerships between the university and the business sector.
“This year’s edition of the Entrepreneurship Summit comes with a new spirit and a program rich in panel discussions and an accompanying exhibition for startups and growth-stage companies,” explained Dr. Abdel Bary. “Our primary goal is to empower youth and link innovative ideas with investment opportunities, contributing to building a university community of entrepreneurs capable of competing regionally and internationally.”
Summit Program and Exhibition
The second edition of the summit will feature a lineup of national leaders, policymakers, and prominent entrepreneurs. The integrated program includes specialized sessions and discussions on the future of entrepreneurship, alongside a dedicated exhibition for startups. This format is designed to enhance synergy between academic institutions and the private sector, creating tangible opportunities for collaboration and growth.
