Qatar’s Werover Secures Top Prize At Qatari–French Startup Competition 2026

3 Min Read

Werover, a deep-tech startup specializing in AI-powered predictive maintenance for renewable energy, has taken first place at the Qatari–French Startup Competition 2026. The prestigious award was announced during a high-momentum week in Doha that saw the convergence of major global events, including Web Summit Qatar, the LNG2026 conference, and the Future Is Female ecosystem gathering.

The competition was organized through a collaborative effort involving the Qatari Businessmen Association, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, HEC Paris in Doha, and MEDEF (Movement of the Enterprises of France), highlighting a strong focus on industrial collaboration and bilateral innovation.

Real-World Impact At Web Summit Qatar

As part of the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) pavilion, Werover exhibited alongside a cohort of 30 incubated and 24 supported startups during Web Summit Qatar 2026. Representing the “EnergyTech” and “DeepTech” sectors, the team focused on showcasing technologies built for tangible industrial impact rather than theoretical demos.

The summit itself attracted a record 30,274 participants from 127 countries, serving as a strategic backdrop for Werover to demonstrate its integration into the regional energy landscape.

AI-Driven Sustainability In Renewable Energy

Founded in 2018, Werover has transitioned from underwater safety technologies to specialized health monitoring for renewable energy assets. The company operates through two primary technology categories:

  • Windrover: A real-time monitoring system utilizing advanced machine learning to analyze vibration and acoustic data for early detection of defects in wind turbine blades.
  • Searover: A line of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) equipped with 3D mapping to identify cracks and sedimentation in hydroelectric power plants.

These solutions aim to extend the lifespan of global energy assets and reduce the significant costs associated with late-stage repairs and replacements.

Ecosystem Integration Via Alchemist Doha

A critical factor in Werover’s regional success has been its participation in Alchemist Doha, a specialized B2B enterprise tech program launched by the QRDI Council and Silicon Valley’s Alchemist Accelerator.

Based at the Digital Incubation Center (DIC), Alchemist Doha has been instrumental in integrating Werover into Qatar’s RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) ecosystem over the past year. The program provides founders with tiered funding, mentorship, and a regional launchpad to scale across the Gulf.
