Khazna Data Centers has announced the launch of Khazna NexOps, a dedicated, in-house operations organisation designed to set a new standard of operational excellence for hyperscale and AI-driven infrastructure across the region. The move signals a major strategic shift for the company, which is transitioning from a vendor-driven model to a fully insourced capability.
A Strategic Shift To In-House Operations
With the launch of NexOps, Khazna now directly manages operations across its extensive portfolio of more than 30 data centres. This transition was executed in less than 12 months, during which the Khazna NexOps team rapidly expanded from 20 to over 230 specialists. This new unified operating model spans people, processes, and technology, ensuring uninterrupted service for customers with mission-critical workloads.
“In a world where minutes of downtime are unacceptable, operations can’t be an afterthought,” said Bart Holsters, Managing Director of Khazna NexOps. “Khazna NexOps is a deliberate investment in accountability, capability, and customer experience. By bringing operations in-house, we can deliver more consistent execution, faster decision-making, and a service model built around the requirements of the most demanding hyperscale environments.”
Building A New Operating System For Reliability
Khazna NexOps was established to standardize performance and embed measurable quality controls across the company’s growing footprint. The initiative involved developing over 5,000 operational documents to ensure repeatable, audit-ready practices.
A key feature is the implementation of competency-linked execution, where training, certification, and skills assessments are directly tied to work order allocation. This system guarantees that only approved and qualified personnel are assigned to carry out critical tasks.
“We view this as a new operating system for reliability,” Holsters added. “Working with global process, learning, and technology leaders, we’ve built the foundations so our teams can execute consistently across every site. That consistency is what customers ultimately feel: predictable performance, faster response, and tighter control of risk, so our clients are AI-ready in every sense of the term.”
Integrating AI and Advanced Automation
As part of the launch, Khazna has integrated advanced automation and AI into its daily operations. In partnership with Presight, the company is implementing an AI-powered command and control platform from a secure hub in Abu Dhabi. This system uses artificial intelligence to monitor energy, cooling, equipment performance, and security, proactively predicting issues and optimizing operations.
Furthermore, a collaboration with AlphaGeo embeds climate intelligence into the core of Khazna’s operations, empowering teams with real-time data on physical climate projections and infrastructure resilience to inform long-term design and risk management. Khazna has also trialled robotic patrol units to support inspection routines and identify anomalies such as heat signatures, leaks, or vibrations.
Delivering Measurable Performance Gains
Since building out the NexOps team, Khazna has reported significant improvements across key performance indicators. The company has achieved a reduction in safety incident rates, reaching zero for LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) and TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate), and has surpassed 2 million LTI-free hours in the last year.
Energy efficiency has also seen a notable improvement, with the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratio improving by approximately 2.3% from already aggressive baselines.
Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna Data Centers, stated, “Khazna NexOps supports our broader mission to deliver resilient, efficient, and future-ready digital infrastructure as AI workloads accelerate and compute densities increase. By bringing operations in-house, we will strengthen end-to-end accountability, improve customer experience, and scale operational excellence for our rapidly expanding footprint.”
