Kuwaiti educational technology group Baims has announced its acquisition of MedMasters, an Iraqi platform specializing in digital medical education. The deal marks Baims’ second strategic acquisition and its first direct entry into the Iraqi higher education market, significantly expanding its regional footprint.

This move reinforces Baims’ leadership position within the MENA region’s burgeoning digital higher education sector.

A Strategic Expansion into Iraq

The acquisition represents a calculated step in Baims’ regional growth strategy. By integrating MedMasters, a platform that has already demonstrated strong growth and high user engagement among thousands of medical students in Iraq, Baims establishes an immediate and impactful presence in a new key market.

MedMasters, founded by Dr. Abdulaziz Salam and Dr. Zaid Imad, has built a robust mobile-first digital platform tailored to the needs of the country’s medical students.

Integrating Strengths for Future Growth

The collaboration will directly benefit students in Iraq, who will gain access to a wider array of recorded courses aligned with university curricula. Additionally, students will be able to utilize one-on-one tutoring services through Orcas, an Egyptian platform previously acquired by Baims.

A Founder-Led Vision

Yousef Al-Husseini, CEO of Baims, explained that the acquisition aligns perfectly with the company’s strategy of partnering with founder-led platforms that have cultivated effective learning communities and sustainable business models. This approach ensures that the original vision and user-centric focus of acquired companies are maintained and amplified.
