Hamdan Foundation Spotlights Top Tech Talent at 8th Innovators Competition in UAE

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has announced the results of its eighth annual Innovators Competition, highlighting a new wave of talent and solutions emerging from the UAE’s innovation ecosystem. The competition, held at the foundation’s Fab Lab UAE, saw a significant increase in participation from university students and professionals across the country.

A Surge in Innovation Engagement

This year’s competition recorded a remarkable 70% increase in participation compared to the previous edition, signaling a growing interest in practical, solutions-oriented innovation within the UAE. The diverse pool of applicants underscores the expanding reach and influence of the initiative.

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, commented on the growth, stating, “The growing participation in the Innovators Competition reflects an increasing recognition of innovation as a practical pathway for developing solutions and enhancing performance. The competition provides a structured competitive framework based on clear criteria, enabling participants to present their projects in a systematic manner that emphasizes feasibility and added value.”

He added that the results demonstrate the diversity of participants’ academic and professional backgrounds, reinforcing the presence of innovation beyond traditional frameworks and signaling a growing base of individuals committed to developing implementable solutions.

The Winning Projects

A specialized judging panel of experts in innovation and applied technologies evaluated the submissions based on originality, feasibility, and practical viability. The competition concluded with three main winning projects and two recognition awards.
The three main winning projects are:

  • VocaBuddy, presented by Erdzean Nathaniel Omalde and Mary Jean Omalde.
  • Innovative Noise Monitoring Device, developed by Noura Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Hussein Haj Sharif, and Waddah Talal Al Fateh.
  • AutoNurse, presented by Abdullah Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi and Fatima Rashid Awad.
    Recognition awards were granted to BioBone Printer, by Fahad Namir Saghir and Mohammed Yahya Al Mahamid, and Terra-ping, by Mohammed Hamdan Mohammed, Muayad Fadl Al Moula, Aatish Shibu Nair, and Jedah Alaska Mariano.

The Innovators Competition is a key initiative of Fab Lab UAE, the first comprehensive educational innovation lab in the nation to gain membership in the global Fab Lab network. The lab provides a hands-on environment with access to digital fabrication technologies and advanced tools, along with specialized training programs.
