Initiative Overview

“Ramadan Al-Athar” is an open call for developers to dedicate a few hours during Ramadan to support Quranic technology. Many Quranic projects operate with limited volunteer resources and face high traffic during this month. By addressing “Issues” on GitHub and submitting Pull Requests, contributors help improve the experience for thousands of users. The initiative covers a wide range of projects, including Quranic CMS, mobile apps (Swift, Kotlin, React Native, Flutter), and specialized search engines.

Key Benefits

  • Professional Impact: Document your contributions on GitHub and within the ITQAN community to build a professional portfolio of real-world projects.
  • Networking: Work directly with researchers, specialized developers, and owners of leading Quranic tech projects.
  • Grand Prizes: ITQAN is offering two Umrah trips for the top technical contributors and one Umrah trip for the project owner who best organizes and utilizes community contributions.
  • Skill Development: Gain practical experience in open-source collaboration, documentation, and technical problem-solving.

Contributors can choose from over 14 participating projects, including:

  • Quranic CMS: Content management systems for Quranic data.
  • IMAD Package: Available in Swift, Kotlin, React Native, and Flutter versions.
  • Quranic Search Engine: Enhancing search algorithms and user experience.
