As global markets increasingly demand sustainable and equitable financial structures, international networks are converging to design alternative frameworks. Pre-registrations have officially opened for the Next Economies Forum, a major international gathering scheduled for March 2027 at Heliopolis University in Cairo, Egypt. Co-organized with the Prosumer Economy Society, the summit will operate under the theme “United in Action,” bringing together policymakers, academics, and business leaders to accelerate the adoption of socially just, solidarity-based financial systems.

Quick Facts

  • March 28–30, 2027, at Heliopolis University in Cairo.

  • Co-organized by Prosumer Economy Society and Heliopolis University.

  • Focuses on regenerative, circular, and collaborative economic models.

Advancing Alternative Financial Frameworks in MENA

The Next Economies Forum aims to move beyond theoretical discussions, focusing on the practical implementation of alternative economic models. Participants will explore frameworks such as the prosumer economy, doughnut economics, the wellbeing economy, and community-based finance.

The organizers are positioning the event as a central hub to build coherence across a wider ecosystem of social enterprises and financial actors. By gathering stakeholders from multiple continents, the forum intends to accelerate the transformation of existing legal, financial, and business practices toward models that prioritize ecological responsibility and fairness.

Building on Momentum from the Istanbul Summits

The 2027 Cairo edition is part of a continuous, multi-year initiative to build a sustained global platform for next-generation economies. The need for a centralized forum emerged following the International Prosumer Economy Conference in 2024 and the Next Economies Summit, slated for Istanbul in 2025.

These earlier events, organized alongside the Kadir Has University Center for Energy and Sustainable Development, highlighted a strong demand for ongoing cross-border collaboration. The Cairo forum takes this initiative forward, leveraging the practical sustainability models developed by Heliopolis University and its founding institution, SEKEM.

Confirmed Global Partners and Five-Day Agenda

Even years ahead of the main event, the summit has already secured commitments from a significant roster of local and international organizations. Confirmed participants include Greenpeace International, the Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll), Global Tapestry of Alternatives, Organic Egypt, and ECOLISE, alongside a growing list of new partners.

The Next Economies Forum will span five days in total. The initial two days are reserved for internal strategic meetings among participating movements and organizations. This will be followed by a three-day public schedule featuring keynote talks, co-creation spaces, exhibitions, and collective assemblies designed to foster actionable partnerships.
