Dubai continues to consolidate its position as a central node for global aviation services. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) at Dubai South has officially inaugurated a new Painting & Grinding Centre, developed in partnership with Lufthansa Technik Middle East. The move scales regional maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations, targeting faster technical support for airline operators.
Quick Facts
- New facility opened at MBRAH in Dubai South.
- Focuses on component painting and grinding processes.
- Aims to reduce repair turnaround times regionally.
Scaling Aviation MRO Capabilities in Dubai
The newly opened centre is built to optimize component painting and grinding, which are critical processes in structural and composite aircraft repairs. By deploying improved drying and curing technologies, the facility significantly reduces the time required for these specific maintenance tasks, directly increasing overall repair efficiency.
“This new facility marks a major step in strengthening our operational capabilities in the region,” said Ziad Al Hazmi, CEO of Lufthansa Technik Middle East.
“By introducing enhanced component painting and grinding capabilities, we are improving efficiency and enabling faster turnaround times for our customers. Our continued expansion at MBRAH reflects our long-standing partnership with Dubai South and our commitment to supporting the aviation industry in the Middle East with reliable, high-quality technical expertise,” Al Hazmi added.
Attracting Global Aerospace Players to the UAE
The partnership aligns with a broader mandate to anchor international aviation expertise within the emirate. As the demand for localized, high-tier MRO services in the Middle East expands, dedicated free zones are actively competing to secure operational bases for international aerospace firms.
Tahnoon Saif, CEO of MBRAH, highlighted the strategic importance of the launch for Dubai’s wider infrastructure goals.
“The inauguration of Lufthansa Technik Middle East’s new Painting & Grinding Center marks another important milestone in strengthening the aviation ecosystem at MBRAH,” Saif noted. “We continue to attract leading global aviation players establishing advanced capabilities to support the growing demand for aviation services in the region. This is part of our mandate to reinforce Dubai’s position as the aviation capital of the world.”
