After establishing the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in 2019 and launching its National Strategy for Data & AI (NSDAI) in 2020, the government created a clear roadmap for the sector. The growth has consistently accelerated, increasing from 7,262 registrations in 2022 to over 14,500 in 2024, demonstrating sustained commercial momentum that aligns directly with the goals of Vision 2030.

To amplify this growth, Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, officially designated 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence. The initiative aims to embed AI as a core driver of economic diversification, targeting key sectors such as healthcare, transportation, and energy for tech-driven transformation. In a significant move, Saudi Arabia recently became the first Arab nation to join the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), an OECD-hosted body that shapes global policy.
