The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) in Saudi Arabia has launched the sixth edition of its “Tourism Growth Accelerator,” doubling down on its commitment to cultivate a competitive and scalable startup ecosystem within the Kingdom’s booming tourism sector. The program is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and networks to transform their ideas into investment-ready ventures.
Quick Facts
- Program targets early-stage tourism startups in Saudi Arabia.
- Over 30 startups have graduated from previous cohorts.
- Alumni have collectively raised over SAR 70 million.
A Non-Financial Model Focused on Growth
The four-month program focuses on providing specialized workshops, direct mentorship from industry experts, and crucial introductions to investors and financing bodies active in the tourism space. The TDF is betting on a non-financial support model, providing founders with knowledge and networking opportunities to prepare them for scaling and attracting investment. The goal is to guide startups from the initial idea phase toward market expansion.
From Riyadh to Silicon Valley
A key component of the accelerator offers participants the chance to visit Silicon Valley and take part in the Plug and Play summit. This provides founders with direct exposure to global innovation hubs and best practices in the travel and hospitality tech industry, creating a bridge between the local ecosystem and international expertise.
Building a Pipeline for Saudi’s Tourism Sector
The accelerator has proven to be a significant growth engine for the private tourism sector. To date, more than 30 startups have graduated from the program. The SAR 70 million raised by these companies highlights the program’s effectiveness in nurturing ventures that meet the rising demand for modern, localized tourism experiences, especially in light of the Kingdom’s ongoing economic diversification and social openness.
Applications for the sixth edition are now open through the TDF’s official portal.
