Egypt’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) is rolling out a series of free educational seminars and training courses across the country throughout April. The initiative, in collaboration with several universities and specialized councils, aims to foster a culture of entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on empowering youth and women.
Quick Facts

- Initiative targets aspiring youth and women entrepreneurs.
- Partnerships with universities and the National Council for Women.
A Strategic Push for SME Growth
Bassel Rahmy, CEO of MSMEDA, stated that the agency is coordinating with various state entities to promote entrepreneurship and raise awareness of the financial and non-financial support services it provides. This campaign is designed to help citizens launch new ventures or expand existing ones by equipping them with the necessary skills to ensure their projects are sustainable and capable of growth.
The initiative is part of a broader national strategy to position SMEs as a key driver of economic growth and job creation. This aligns with a recent decision by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly to establish a dedicated ministerial group for entrepreneurship, signaling high-level government commitment to strengthening the startup ecosystem.
Forging University and Provincial Partnerships
MSMEDA’s outreach will be extensive, with activities planned in Greater Cairo (including Cairo, Qalyubia, 6th of October, Giza, and Helwan), as well as governorates like Alexandria, Matrouh, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Beheira.
The agency is leveraging key partnerships to maximize its reach. Collaborations are in place with universities such as Ain Shams and Al-Azhar University in Cairo, and Benha University in Qalyubia. The effort also involves coordination with local Directorates of Youth and Sports, Chambers of Commerce, and the National Council for Women.
Empowering Women and Formalizing the Economy
A core objective of MSMEDA’s strategy is the economic and social empowerment of women. Rahmy emphasized the agency’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for women to establish and grow their own businesses, thereby creating sustainable employment opportunities. The ongoing collaboration with the National Council for Women is central to delivering specialized training programs tailored to enhance their participation in the economy.
Furthermore, the seminars will educate entrepreneurs on the benefits of Law No. 152 of 2020, which provides a range of incentives for small enterprises. Participants will also learn about Law No. 6 of 2025, which offers tax incentives to encourage businesses in the informal sector to transition to the formal economy, promoting greater stability and growth.
MSMEDA has invited all aspiring entrepreneurs to take advantage of these programs by calling the hotline 16733 or visiting its branches nationwide for more information.
