King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), in collaboration with its innovation hub The Garage, has graduated 46 deep tech startups from the second cohort of its KVP program. The initiative, backed by the National Information Technology Development Program and five research and academic institutions, provided a total of SAR 6.9 million in support to the participating companies.

From Lab to Commercialization
The graduation event, attended by KACST President Dr. Munir Al-Desouqi, also marked the launch of the third edition of the KVP program, which focuses on converting university-led innovations into viable, investment-ready businesses.
Dr. Khaled Al-Dakkan emphasized the program’s role as a national platform for turning advanced research into promising economic projects. He noted that the initiative helps align innovation with market needs, strengthening the Kingdom’s position in the deep tech sector.
Startups from the graduating cohort showcased solutions across several critical fields, including clean energy, green hydrogen, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing.
New Partnership to Boost Investment Readiness
During the ceremony, KACST announced a new partnership with Kahilan Fund. The collaboration aims to prepare 15 startups for venture capital investment, with the fund committed to leading an investment round for one of the companies. An additional five startups will receive specialized training as part of the agreement.
Since its launch in 2024, the KVP program has graduated a total of 92 startups and granted 16 technology licenses to private sector and startup companies, contributing to the diversification of the national economy.

The KVP Program is a national initiative by KACST designed to bridge the gap between scientific research and market-ready products. An award winner for “Inspiring Solutions” from the International Association of Science Parks, the program supports the growth of technology companies in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.
