Syrian Forum concluded the final activities of its “Syrian Business Community and its Role in the Future of Syria” project on April 26 and 27, 2026, in Damascus. The events brought together a broad spectrum of Syrian private sector representatives, economic experts, and public institution officials to discuss sustainable development pathways. Funded by the European Union, Germany, and Denmark, the project was implemented as part of the Syrian Peace Initiative by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Strengthening Small and Medium Enterprises
The first day of the event featured an extensive workshop held in cooperation with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority. Discussions focused on the critical role this sector plays in Syria’s broader economic recovery.
- Challenge Identification: Participants analyzed the primary obstacles currently hindering the growth of small and medium-sized businesses.
- Support Infrastructure: The workshop outlined the specific needs required to build a more resilient and supportive business environment.

Bridging the Public-Private Dialogue
The final conference on the second day reviewed the key outcomes and recommendations derived from a series of dialogues held both inside and outside Syria. The session emphasized that a comprehensive, institutional response is necessary for the Syrian people to help themselves move toward long-term prosperity.
