Saudi and UAE Firms Outpace Global Peers in Agentic AI Deployment, Confluent Report Finds

3 Min Read

Businesses in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are moving past the hype and deploying agentic AI solutions directly into their commercial operations at a rate that surpasses their global competitors. A new report from data streaming provider Confluent reveals that regional companies are making a strategic pivot, prioritizing the foundational data infrastructure required to make artificial intelligence effective at scale.

Quick Facts

  • 38% regional agentic AI deployment vs. 32% globally.
  • 95% of regional leaders see data streaming as vital.
  • Data pipelines now prioritized over new AI software purchases.

A Strategic Pivot to Data Infrastructure

The 2026 Data Streaming Report, which surveyed over 4,600 global technology chiefs, found that 38% of firms in Saudi Arabia and the UAE are running autonomous AI agents in live production environments, compared to a global average of 32%. This push is driven by a realization that expensive AI models are ineffective without clean, real-time data.

This has triggered a significant shift in investment priorities. A staggering 90% of UAE executives and 88% of their Saudi counterparts now place a higher priority on building robust data streaming capabilities than on purchasing new AI software. The findings suggest a maturing market where executives understand that untainted, accessible data is the true bottleneck to maximizing returns on AI capital.

Deployment Hurdles and Talent Gaps Persist

Despite the aggressive adoption rates, significant barriers are slowing momentum. The report highlights that three-quarters of regional technology chiefs face at least three major deployment challenges.

Critical infrastructure gaps, including a lack of real-time processing capabilities and poor data lineage tracking, are a primary concern. Compounding this issue is a severe shortage of specialized technical talent, with firms scrambling to hire the AI and data engineers needed to build and maintain these complex systems. To overcome these data challenges, 95% of Gulf firms now view data streaming platforms as the core mechanism for making their corporate information discoverable and trustworthy.
