Students from the Business Information Systems (BIS) program at Egypt’s Capital University have developed Startawy, an integrated digital platform that combines financial consulting with artificial intelligence to support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The project aims to address common financial and administrative hurdles faced by new businesses by providing data-driven tools for decision-making.

Bridging Academia and Entrepreneurship
The initiative, developed as a graduation project within the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, received backing from the university’s leadership, including Dr. Elsayed Kandil, President of Capital University, and Dr. Gamal Ali, Dean of the Faculty.
“Entrepreneurship has become one of the main drivers of economic growth in the world,” stated Dr. Gamal Ali. He emphasized that universities today are required to produce graduates who can innovate and create opportunities, not just seek them. Dr. Ali noted that the Startawy project reflects an advanced mindset that helps strengthen the business environment and enables startups to achieve success and sustainability.
The project was supervised by Dr. Soha Ahmed and Dr. Sylvia Anis. The student team includes Iman Mahni Mohamed Kamal Ali, Engy Anwar Safwat Adib, Mira Maged Youssef Boutros Wassef, Shahd Nasr Mahmoud Ali, Nouran Ahmed Abdel Hafez Mohamed Sayed, and Sarah Kamal Mohamed Gad El-Rab.

The Startawy platform is designed to transform the challenges faced by small companies into growth opportunities through intelligent analysis. It offers a range of services tailored for early-stage businesses.
Key features include the preparation and analysis of budgets and financial statements, market research, and general administrative and financial consulting. The platform leverages AI to deliver precise analytics, helping founders make more efficient decisions. It also includes an interactive dashboard for tracking key financial indicators and a smart assistant for guidance and consultations. Startawy plans to offer various service packages to meet the needs of companies at different growth stages.
This initiative is presented as an innovative model for supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem and strengthening the digital economy, aligning with the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030 to support SMEs and stimulate innovation.
