Abu Dhabi-based applied AI company Presight has signed a term sheet with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport, outlining plans to build a national operational intelligence platform for the country’s entire transport network. The agreement, signed in Astana, marks another significant step in Presight’s strategic expansion into Central Asia and reinforces the growing tech partnership between the UAE and Kazakhstan.
Quick Facts
- Building a national AI transport intelligence platform.
- Merges existing monitoring and video analytics systems.
- Expands Presight’s existing smart city work in Kazakhstan.
A Unified Intelligence Layer for Transport
The proposed platform aims to consolidate Kazakhstan’s existing transport monitoring systems, weigh-in-motion infrastructure, and video analytics into a single, unified operational environment. By integrating these disparate data sources, the system is designed to provide authorities with real-time visibility and predictive insights across the national network.
Key goals for the project include improving road safety, increasing the detection of transport violations, and protecting critical road infrastructure from damage. The platform is expected to enable more efficient, data-driven operations for the ministry, which oversees rail, road, inland waterways, and civil aviation.
Building on a Foundation in Kazakhstan
This deal builds on Presight’s growing portfolio of projects in the country. The G42-owned company, which opened its first Central Asia office in Astana in May of last year, is already a key partner in the Astana Smart City project.
Presight has also been instrumental in delivering Kazakhstan’s first national AI supercomputer, which currently ranks 86th on the TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers. The company is also involved in developing smart city infrastructure for Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, and has established a dedicated AI research and development laboratory, Alem.AI.
The term sheet represents an initial step toward a full platform development agreement; no financial terms or investment figures were disclosed. This move fits within a broader UAE-Kazakhstan partnership valued at over $5 billion, covering AI, logistics, and education.
