From Regional Player to Global Ambition
After three years of operating as Shahbandr and building a base of over 20,000 merchants in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the company is moving into its next phase. The rebrand reflects a broader international focus and a deeper integration of AI into its core offering. Features like native Video Commerce, developed during its initial growth period, set the stage for this evolution.
“Shahbandr was an instrumental name in our beginning our journey, and with it, we built the trust of thousands of merchants,” stated Shady Abdelshaheed, CEO of Komrz. “However, our ambition has grown bigger, and our focus has shifted from the KSA and Egypt to GCC and Europe. Therefore, we chose the name Komrz to represent our next chapter, which focuses on AI, international expansion, and the development of next-generation infrastructure for global merchants.”
Komi: An AI Co-Pilot for Merchants
Central to the rebrand is the debut of Komi, an agentic commerce assistant designed to change how merchants manage their online businesses. Using simple text commands, business owners can automate daily tasks, streamline operations, and improve customer engagement.
Komrz aims to make AI a practical, daily tool for its users rather than just a background technology.
“The launch of Komi is a pivotal step in our mission,” Abdelshaheed continued. “We aren’t just building tools for the sake of innovation; we are actively improving how merchants operate. In this new era of e-commerce, AI will act as a daily co-pilot for merchants, driving operational efficiency and smarter decision-making.”
Building a Borderless E-Commerce Ecosystem
To power its international push, Komrz has developed a plug-and-play platform that requires no technical expertise. The ecosystem allows merchants to embed features like video commerce and live-streaming directly into their stores. It also provides AI tools to autonomously design store layouts, write marketing copy, and generate product visuals, supported by real-time analytics.
The platform ensures smooth operations through key global integrations. For payments, it connects with Moyasar, Tabby, Tamara, and EdfaPay in the MENA region, as well as Stripe, PayPal, and Klarna in Europe. Logistics are handled through direct integrations with major partners including DHL, Aramex, FedEx, UPS, Zajil, and SMSA.
