Mubadala Capital, the asset management arm of Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company, has launched a tokenized private markets fund with Coinbase and Abu Dhabi-based tokenization firm KAIO.
The fund went live on July 23 across Coinbase’s Base network, Solana and Sui, with around $75M in commitments already onchain, including investment from Coinbase, according to the announcement.
The structure converts a private markets fund into a regulated blockchain-based token. Access is limited to qualified institutional and accredited investors, keeping the offering within existing investor eligibility requirements.
The initiative gives Coinbase a dual role as both infrastructure provider and investor. The companies said it is the first time a major US public company has used a regulated tokenized asset for its own onchain treasury management.
The launch follows a partnership announced by Mubadala Capital and KAIO in December 2025 to explore tokenized access to private market strategies. KAIO said it has facilitated more than $200M in asset tokenization across funds managed by firms including BlackRock, Brevan Howard and Hamilton Lane.
The move highlights growing institutional interest in bringing private market products onto blockchain networks, although the fund remains restricted to eligible investors.
