The seventh Gulf virtual conference, “Techno Innovation, Techno Entrepreneurship and Techno AI Toward Economic Diversification,” has called for greater investment in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence and technology entrepreneurship to support economic diversification across the Gulf and the wider Arab region.
Held in Kuwait, the conference brought together around 100 experts, alongside government officials, diplomats, academics, financiers, inventors and entrepreneurs. It was opened by Kuwait’s Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr Tareq Hamad Al-Jalhama.
According to conference chair Dr Hanadi Mubarak Al-Mubarki, the event produced six main recommendations focused on improving the competitiveness of Gulf and Arab economies and capturing opportunities created by emerging technologies.
The recommendations include expanding investment in cybersecurity and cloud computing, as well as developing Arabic-language AI applications and large language models that reflect the region’s cultural identity and privacy requirements.
The conference also urged stronger support for technology startups and venture financing, and proposed an AI-powered digital platform offering financial, administrative, legal and marketing advice to innovators and entrepreneurs during the startup and growth stages.
Other recommendations focused on connecting academic research to economic impact, commercialising technology, using innovation to support sustainability and renewable energy, and strengthening digital media capabilities in data journalism and AI tools.
