UAE-based taxtech startup Tax Star has raised $1.75 million in a Seed round backed primarily by angel investors, as it prepares to expand across the GCC.

Founded in 2023 by Rayhan Aleem and Haris Tasawar, Tax Star offers an AI-powered platform for corporate tax and compliance. The company is also a pre-approved Accredited Service Provider (ASP) for the UAE’s upcoming e-invoicing system.

According to the announcement, the funding will support go-to-market expansion, product development and efforts to simplify compliance for businesses preparing for the UAE’s e-invoicing requirements.

The UAE’s e-invoicing rollout will require businesses to appoint an ASP and implement a compliant process connected to the UAE Electronic Invoicing System. Businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more face an ASP appointment deadline of October 30, 2026, ahead of the first mandatory implementation phase in January 2027.

Tax Star said its pre-approved ASP status positions it to support companies through the transition. The startup plans to use its UAE experience as a foundation for expansion into other GCC markets undergoing digital tax transformation.

The company has participated in the Plug and Play and Dubai Founders HQ startup programme and is also part of the Microsoft for Startups Program.
