Saudi Arabia’s Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has launched the Riyadh Digital Innovation District, a new initiative designed to attract technology companies and specialised talent as the capital seeks to become a global top 10 tech hub.
The district will focus on six areas: artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing and services, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and robotics and drones.
According to the RCRC, the district will provide specialised incentives for large, medium-sized and fast-growing digital companies, as well as startups. It will also offer advanced digital infrastructure and business services.
The initiative aims to support growth in Saudi Arabia’s non-oil economy by expanding the digital sector, helping emerging companies scale, creating technology jobs and improving service delivery.
The launch comes as Riyadh continues to build its technology ecosystem, with regional headquarters for companies including Ericsson, HP, IBM, Lenovo and Microsoft. It was announced shortly before LEAP 2026, which is scheduled to take place in the capital from 31 August to 3 September and will include a dedicated AI programme called DeepFest.
