Qatar-based digital wallet startup KARTY LLC has received Visa’s FinTech Innovation Award following the launch of its payment card in the country.
According to the announcement, KARTY’s Visa card is the first in Qatar issued by a licensed fintech. The company is licensed by the Qatar Central Bank and registered with the Qatar Financial Centre.
Users can open an account, add funds to their KARTY wallet and use the card for payments wherever Visa is accepted. The app also includes budgeting tools, spending insights, virtual cards, rewards and international exchange rates.
The award also highlights KARTY’s ongoing work with Visa. The startup said it is the first fintech to launch Visa Subscription Management, allowing users to view and stop recurring subscription payments from within the app.
KARTY said it is now focused on increasing adoption and expanding the services available to customers. Its app is available on iOS and Android, and the company has previously obtained PCI-DSS cybersecurity certification, according to the announcement.
