The UAE has established the National Programme for Advanced Sciences and Technologies, creating a national framework connecting education, research and talent development with the country’s strategic and advanced industries.

According to the announcement, the programme’s first phase will cover six tracks: Technical Education and National Talent, National Service, Flagship Initiative, Global Challenge, Global Talent Attraction, and Technical Research and Innovation.

The programme will be overseen by a Higher Committee chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan as deputy chairman. The committee will set strategic direction, approve budgets and monitor national impact.

The initiative is designed to link research capabilities, educational institutions and innovation centres with industrial priorities, supporting technical solutions that can be manufactured, scaled and exported. A dedicated programme office will coordinate implementation, track progress and develop local and international partnerships.

An Executive Committee chaired by Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi will review plans proposed under the programme’s tracks before they go to the Higher Committee for approval. Additional tracks may be introduced as national priorities evolve.
