SABIC and Lenovo have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore cooperation in industrial innovation, advanced technology and knowledge transfer in Saudi Arabia and other markets.
The agreement was signed on September 1 on the sidelines of LEAP 2026 in Riyadh. It creates a framework for the companies to identify potential joint initiatives by combining SABIC’s petrochemical and industrial operations expertise with Lenovo’s enterprise technology and digital infrastructure capabilities.
According to the announcement, the collaboration will focus on industrial development, technological advancement and knowledge exchange. However, the MoU does not include a specific deployment, investment programme, technology implementation or project timeline.
The companies have not disclosed details on potential use cases or implementation locations beyond the broader Saudi and international scope. Areas under consideration could include industrial computing, automation, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, although no specific projects have been announced.
SABIC Executive Vice President for Petrochemicals Abdulrahman Shamsaddin said partnerships between industrial and technology companies could support capability development and knowledge exchange as Saudi Arabia advances its industrial transformation.
The next step will be for the two companies to identify concrete opportunities and determine whether the exploratory agreement develops into defined projects or investments.
