PalletiX 4.0, a student team from the Faculty of Engineering at Egypt’s Benha University, has won first place in the Made in Egypt competition for the second consecutive year.
The team received support from the Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund through its “Your Project… Your Startup” program, which helps turn promising student graduation projects into applied ventures with potential to become startups.
PalletiX 4.0 is developing a locally made Cartesian robot designed to handle demanding industrial tasks, particularly arranging products on pallets along production lines. According to the announcement, the system aims to reduce manual physical effort, limit workplace injuries and improve production efficiency.
The project’s mechanical, electronic and software components are being designed and manufactured locally. The team said this could provide Egyptian factories with a more affordable alternative to imported automation systems.
The project also has potential to develop into a specialized startup offering customizable smart automation solutions for Egyptian factories, with possible expansion across regional and African markets. The announcement said it could also support engineering and technical job creation and wider adoption of smart manufacturing applications in Egypt.
