The Film Commission’s business accelerator has selected 20 Saudi startups from 350 applicants for a 16-week program focused on building stronger businesses across the film industry.

Launched in January 2026, the Riyadh-based accelerator supports companies working across the sector’s value chain, including project development, production, technical services, post-production, distribution, exhibition, training and digital solutions.

The program combines training, mentoring and strategic consulting. Its focus areas include leadership and team building, technology and intellectual property, market analysis, sales and marketing, financial management, fundraising and investment readiness.

Among the participating startups is CineNow, a Saudi digital cinema platform that lets users buy individual tickets to watch selected films without a monthly subscription. The company aims to create an additional distribution channel for films and expand access to Saudi and Arab content through multilingual subtitles.

Other participants include Basr, a weekly cinema newsletter, and Whitelines Academy, which focuses on developing talent for the film sector. According to information presented about the academy, its Instagram profile receives more than 100,000 visits per month and one course has a waiting list of over 150 people.

The accelerator is scheduled to conclude in October 2026, when three startups will be selected to receive awards and additional support. The company said all 20 participants will also benefit from the program’s network of mentors, experts and partners beyond its formal end.
