New Space Group (NSG) is working to build an integrated Saudi space sector by localising intellectual property, manufacturing capabilities and supply chains, according to comments from CEO Haitham Mohammed Al-Muajil Al-Faraj.
Speaking during a LEAP 2026 session in Riyadh on space, security and dual-use innovation, Al-Faraj said the group’s ambition goes beyond owning or operating satellites. It aims to develop capabilities across the space value chain, including system design, manufacturing, integration, testing, operations and data-driven services.
NSG said its strategy includes bringing satellite manufacturing and assembly capabilities to Saudi Arabia while developing local talent, suppliers and technical expertise. The company also plans to combine domestic development with international partnerships.
Its portfolio covers satellite communications, geospatial intelligence, Earth observation, and positioning, navigation and timing services. NSG’s UP42 platform provides access to Earth observation and data analysis services, while the company is also working with Saudi satellite communications infrastructure, including the SGS-1 satellite.
During LEAP 2026, NSG expanded partnerships in satellite communications, artificial intelligence, geospatial services and related technologies. These included a memorandum of understanding with Arabsat, alongside agreements involving the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority and the Saudi Water Authority.
Al-Faraj said the long-term goal is to develop space products and services in Saudi Arabia, validate them locally and expand them into international markets.
