Egypt ranked fifth among 27 African countries in the 2026 Africa Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Index (AEEI), scoring 3.34 points, according to the Egypt Entrepreneurship and Innovation Indicators 2026 report.
The report was issued by the Egypt Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, part of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development. Egypt placed behind Mauritius, South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia.
The report identified governance, infrastructure, market access and human capital as key strengths of Egypt’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. These factors support the country’s regional position and its potential to contribute to economic growth, according to the report.
