Syria and Qatar have launched an investment partnership aimed at expanding economic cooperation and developing projects between the two countries, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The partnership was announced on Sept. 6 at an event in Damascus countryside, held under the patronage of the Syrian Investment Authority and attended by officials, business leaders and investors from both countries. Presentations outlined potential future projects and areas for collaboration.
Ahmad Rawad Ramadan, director general of the Syrian Investment Authority, said the initiative would help create a more sustainable business relationship. He added that Syria is entering a broad construction and development phase, with opportunities across several sectors, and called on Qatari investors to pursue long-term partnerships.
The partnership is expected to focus on tourism and hospitality, energy and related infrastructure, real estate and urban development, sustainable projects, and initiatives supporting young people and entrepreneurs.
Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani, chairman of Tamim Holding Group, said the initiative reflected confidence in Syria’s investment outlook. He highlighted potential in real estate, industry, agriculture, energy and technology, while noting that the partnership would involve local companies, suppliers and Syrian talent.
