Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi, opened the sixth edition of Tech Invest Egypt, bringing together government representatives, investors, technology companies, startups and academic institutions.
Speaking at the conference, Hindi said entrepreneurship is a central pillar of building a competitive digital economy. He added that the ministry is working to address challenges facing startups, including access to finance, growth, market entry and talent retention.
The ministry’s priorities include accelerating digital transformation, localising technology, developing digital skills, upgrading infrastructure and creating a stronger environment for investment and innovation. Hindi also highlighted the Digital Egypt Innovation Hubs, which operate in more than 20 governorates and provide training, incubation, technical and legal advice, market support and investor connections.
Artificial intelligence was another focus of the event. Hindi said Egyptian developers have created applications in language processing, speech-to-text, translation and healthcare. He also noted the recent pilot launch of the Egyptian large language model “Karnak,” alongside the “Lughat” and “Bel Masry” applications.
The conference includes sessions on technology investment, corporate AI strategies, startup financing and scaling, data protection rules, and connections between entrepreneurs, incubators, accelerators and innovation-support organisations.
